26　advantage，benefit，interest和profit

① advantage意為“有利條件，優(yōu)點，優(yōu)勢”，指競爭或物質(zhì)上贏得的好處，或應付困難的條件或時機。

Her connections gave her an advantage over the others. 她的關系戶使她比別人更具優(yōu)勢。

He took advantage of the fine weather to sun his clothes. 他趁天氣晴好把衣服曬了。

It would be to our advantage to continue the training course. 把培訓繼續(xù)辦下去對我們有好處。

② benefit是常用詞，指人們得到的物質(zhì)、精神方面的任何好處。

The book is of much benefit to me. 這本書對我大有益處。

She got a lot of benefit from their friendship. 她從他們的友誼中獲益良多。

③ interest用單數(shù)形式，指“利息，利潤，興趣”，表示“利益”時，多用復數(shù)形式。

The interest on the loan is five percent. 這項貸款的利息是百分之五。

The interests of our firm are closely bound up with those of yours. 我們兩家公司的利益息息相關。

④ profit著重指物質(zhì)、金錢方面獲得的利益或好處，表示“贏利，收益，利潤”，也指其他方面的“益處，得益”。
