458　man，the man和mankind

① man表示“全體人類”時，不加定冠詞the，但指某個人則須加the。

The man is born equal.

Man is born equal.

人生來平等。

The man standing over there is my brother. 站在那邊的那個人是我的弟弟。

② man可以表示任何一個人，包括男性和女性，以區(qū)別于動物。

In ancient times，men feared thunder—some still do. 古時候，人害怕打雷——有些人現(xiàn)在仍然害怕。
