I Can’t Let Him Get Away

A male crab met a female crab and asked her to marry him. She noticed that he was walking straight instead of sideways.

Wow, she thought, this crab is really special. I can't let him get away .So they got married immediately.

The next day she noticed her new husband walking sideways like all the other crabs, and got upset.

"What happened?" she asked. "You used to walk straight before we were married."

"Oh, honey, " he replied, "I can't drink that much every day. "

不能讓他跑了

一只雄蟹遇到一只雌蟹，便要娶她為妻。她注意到他走路是直著走，而不是橫著走。

哇!她想，這只雄蟹可真特別，我可不能讓他跑了。因此他們立刻結婚了。

第二天，她又發(fā)現(xiàn)她的新郎像其他蟹一樣橫著走路了。她深感不安。

“你怎么了?”她問，“我們結婚前你可是直著走路的。”

“哦，親愛的，”他回答說，“我不可能每天都喝那么多。”

【詞匯講解】

1. crab，在文中指螃蟹。也可以指“脾氣壞的人”。作動詞時，有“抱怨”的意思：You make the heat ten times worse by crabbing about it.你越喊熱就更熱了。

2.female, male。是雌性和雄性的意思，填表的時候，“性別”一欄中的“F/M”就是來自female/male的首字母縮寫。

3. marry結婚。Marry的用法有marry sb. 和be married with sb, 都是“和某人結婚”的意思。

4. get away有“走開/逃脫/出發(fā)”的意思。I’m sorry I’m late. I was in a meeting and couldn’t get way.對不起，我遲到了。我在開會，走不開。

5. sideways一邊向前地。She was so fat that she could only get through the sideways. 她胖得只能側著身子通過。
