pedestrian: 行人
The word "walker" reminds Adam of the TV series "The Walking Dead": 說到walker，Adam會想到《行尸走肉》這部美劇
For me, I think of the "white walkers" in the GoT: 我會想到《權(quán)力的游戲》里面那些“異鬼”
He's a walker/runner/jogger: 他很喜歡走路/跑步/慢跑
A walker can as be a device that helps the elderly walk more steadily: 助行器可以幫助老年人走得更穩(wěn)
cane: 拐杖
pedestrian street: 步行街
補(bǔ)充一個(gè)節(jié)目中忘記提的——人行道!它的叫法在各個(gè)英語國家會不同：
sidewalk: 人行道，美國的常用講法
pavement: 人行道，英國的常用講法 (Adele有首歌叫做Chasing Pavement)
過馬路有以下這些過法:
crosswalk: 人行橫道 (中文里有時(shí)叫斑馬線，其實(shí)英語里也有對應(yīng)zebra crossing，不過在美國不太用就是了)
pedestrain overpass: 人行天橋
underground passage: 地下通道

In many places, jaywalking isn't necessarily illegal, but definitely frowned upon: 在很多地方，亂穿馬路并不違法，不過會遭人鄙視

In North Amerca, if you want to get off the bus, you always have to pull the stop cable or push the stop button: 在北美，下車前你要拉一下繩或者按一下停車扭示意司機(jī)你下站下

地鐵的各種說法:
metro: 地鐵 (最早是從metropolitan這個(gè)詞變過來的)
subway: 地鐵
underground: 地鐵在英國的叫法
tube: 倫敦的地鐵
In San Francisco, the metro is called BART, which is short for Bay Area Rapid Transit: 舊金山的地鐵叫做BART, 意思是灣區(qū)快速公交
It's worth noting that when it comes to the subway in NYC, "downtown" means "southward" instead of the center of the city : 在紐約地鐵上“downtown”指“往城南方向” (uptown就是往城北)
美國距離用英里
Canadians use kilometers, while Americnas use miles: 加拿大用千米，美國人用的是英里
One mile is the equivalent of roughly 1.6 kilometers: 一英里差不多是1.6千米
foot/feet: 英尺
inch/inches: 英寸
yard/yards: 一碼
If you use Google Maps, you can change the measurement from "mile" to "kilometer" in settings: 如果你用谷歌地圖，可以在設(shè)置里把度量單位從英里改成千米

highway: 高速公路
freeway/expressway: 也是高速公路，口語里基本跟highway混著用了，具體不同
toll road/toll bridge: 收費(fèi)路段/收費(fèi)大橋
