The coronavirus pandemic has driven the U.S economy into its most severe contraction for more than a decade. It shrank a rate of nearly 5% in the first three months of 2020. The head of the U.S central bank has warned that the slowdown will be even worse in the second quarter.

The White House health advisor Dr.Anthony Fauci says there has been positive data from the trial of an anti-viral drug to treat Covid-19. He said the drug, remdesivir helped reduce the time to recovery. But the BBC correspondent says it's still unclear if it saves lives.

The Swedish city Lund is trying to discourage people from gathering for famous festival during the pandemic by tipping a ton of chicken manure over its main park. Official cerebrations for the festival have been canceled across Sweden. The city's mayor said at least the manure could be good for the grass.
