Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
別對(duì)我用憂傷的調(diào)子，
"Life is but an empty dream!"
說(shuō)生活不過(guò)是一場(chǎng)夢(mèng)
For the soul is dead that slumbers，
因?yàn)殪`魂倦了，就等于死
And things are not what they seem.
而事情并不是表面那樣
Life is real! Life is earnest!
生是真實(shí)的！認(rèn)真的活！
And the grave is not its goal;
它的終點(diǎn)并不是墳?zāi)梗?br /> "Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
對(duì)于靈魂，不能這么說(shuō)：
Was not spoken of the soul.
"你是塵土，必歸于塵土。"
Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
我們注定的道路或目標(biāo)
Is our destined end or way；
不是享樂(lè)，也不是悲嘆;
But to act, that each to-morrow
而是行動(dòng)，是每個(gè)明朝
Find us farther than to-day.
看我們比今天走得更遠(yuǎn)
Art is long, and time is fleeting.
藝術(shù)無(wú)限，而時(shí)光飛速；
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
我們的心盡管勇敢，堅(jiān)強(qiáng)，
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
它仍舊像是悶聲的鼓，
Funeral marches to the grave
打著節(jié)拍向墳?zāi)顾蛦省?br /> In the world's broad field of battle,
在廣闊的世界戰(zhàn)場(chǎng)上
In the bivouac of Life,
在"生活"的露天營(yíng)盤(pán)中
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
別像愚蠢的、驅(qū)使的牛羊！
Be a hero in the strife!
要做一個(gè)戰(zhàn)斗的英雄。
Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant!
別依賴未來(lái)，無(wú)論多美好!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
讓死的"過(guò)去"埋葬它自己
Act，act in the living Present!
行動(dòng)吧! 就趁活著的今朝

Heart within, and God O'er head!
憑你的心，和頭上的天
Lives of great men all remind us
偉人的事跡令人覓想
We can make our lives sublime,
我們能使一生壯麗，
And departing, leave behind us
并且在時(shí)間的流沙上，
Footprints on the sands of time;
在離去時(shí)，留下來(lái)足跡；
Footprints that perhaps another,
這足跡，也許另一個(gè)人，
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
看到了，會(huì)重新振作，
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
當(dāng)他在生活的海上浮沉
Seeing shall take heart again;
悲慘的，他的船已經(jīng)沉沒(méi)
Let us, then, be up and doing,
因此，無(wú)論有了什么命運(yùn)
With a heart for any fate;
不要灰心吧! 積極起來(lái)；
Still achieving, still pursuing
不斷進(jìn)取，不斷前進(jìn)
Learn to labor and to wait.
要學(xué)會(huì)勞作，學(xué)會(huì)等待。
