詞組講解

1. get after sb. ***一再要求,一再催促;責(zé)怪

解 〈口〉短語動詞;詞義溯源:[跟在后面(after)]走;參照keep 〔stay〕 after sb.

例 Could you get after Jimmy for not doing his house chores before going out to play with his friends? He listens to you more than me.

2. get along on a shoestring / get along **勉強糊口;生活拮據(jù)

解 習(xí)語;詞義溯源:以[小額資本、零星資金(shoestring)]為生

例 Igot along on a shoestring for eight years while I was saving up money to buy a home. I didn't go anywhere or do anything—no movies, no eating out, no vacations. My budget was very tight then, but now I have my own home.

3. get along 〔on〕 with sb. / get along 〔on〕 ***與某人成為朋友;與某人和睦相處;取得進展

解 短語動詞;詞義溯源:[與(with)]某人和睦相處

例 Lisa's the kind of girl who can get along with just about anybody. She's so congenial, affable and sincerely courteous. So if she's having a problem with her dormitory roommate, then her roommate must be pretty terrible.

4. get along without sb. or sth. ***沒有…湊合著做

5. get 〔have〕 ants in one's pants / get antsy *興奮;焦慮,坐立不安

解 俚語;詞義溯源:[褲子(pants)]里面有螞蟻或變成[焦慮的、坐立不安的、到處癢的(antsy)]狀態(tài)
