從句子結(jié)構(gòu)上看，英語句子分為簡單句、并列句和復合句。只包含一個主謂結(jié)構(gòu)的是簡單句。英語句子由主語、謂語、表語、賓語、賓語補足語、狀語和定語等成分構(gòu)成，英語簡單句有五種基本句型。
簡單句的五種基本結(jié)構(gòu)
1．主語＋系動詞＋表語
Mary is a teacher. 瑪麗是一位老師。
Lucy and Lily are quiet. 露西和莉莉都很安靜。
2．主語＋謂語
Class begins. 開始上課。
Birds can fly. 鳥會飛。
3．主語＋謂語＋賓語
I want some bread. 我想吃點面包。
Gina likes milk. 吉娜喜歡喝牛奶。
4．主語＋謂語＋間接賓語＋直接賓語，或者主語＋謂語＋直接賓語＋介詞＋間接賓語
Mum told me a story. 媽媽給我講了一個故事。
Dad gave a toy to me. 爸爸給了我一個玩具。
5．主語＋謂語＋賓語＋賓語補足語
I find the book interesting. 我發(fā)現(xiàn)這本書很有趣。
They keep the room clean. 他們保持室內(nèi)清潔。
