301　man, person, people和the people

1　man 指成年男子，男士，復(fù)數(shù)形式為men，對(duì)應(yīng)的是woman （復(fù)數(shù)為women）。

The man under the tree is his father. 樹(shù)下的那個(gè)人是他父親。

提示

①man也泛指“人”。

The job is easy and any man can do it. 這工作很容易，任何人都能做。

②man也可指“人類(lèi)”。

Man cannot live without water. 沒(méi)有水人類(lèi)無(wú)法生存。

2　person 意為“人”，包括男人、女人和小孩，最普通說(shuō)法。

He is an important person . 他是一個(gè)重要人物。

Three persons saw it. 3個(gè)人看見(jiàn)了它。

3　people 意為“人，人們”，為復(fù)數(shù)形式，不能指一個(gè)人，作主語(yǔ)時(shí)謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用復(fù)數(shù)，可用two, some, many, a lot of等修飾。

Many people come to the park on Sundays. 星期天許多人到這個(gè)公園里來(lái)。

What will other people say？別人會(huì)說(shuō)什么呢？

Most people think so. 大多數(shù)人都這樣想。

There were ten people present. 有10個(gè)人出席。

4　people 作“民族”解時(shí)，為可數(shù)名詞，“一個(gè)民族”要說(shuō)a people ，“多個(gè)民族”要用peoples 。

The Chinese is a great people . 中華民族是一個(gè)偉大的民族。

The peoples of the world love peace. 世界各國(guó)人民都熱愛(ài)和平。

5　the people 意為“人民”。

She died for the people . 她為人民犧牲了。
