349　borrow, lend和keep

1　borrow sth. from 表示“從……借來某物”，指的是主語把某物從某人或某地借來。

He borrowed some money from Jim yesterday. 他昨天向吉姆借了一些錢。

We can borrow books from the library. 我們可以從圖書館借書。

2　lend sth. to 表示“把某物借給……”，指的是主語把某物借出去，借給別人。

I have lent the book to Tom. 我已經(jīng)把那本書借給湯姆了。

Can you lend the dictionary to me? 你能把那本詞典借給我嗎 ?

3　keep 意為“保持，保留”，為延續(xù)性動詞。表示把某物“借”或“保留”多久時，要用keep ，而不可用borrow或lend，因為這兩個詞都是非延續(xù)性動詞。

You may keep the book for two weeks. 這本書你可以借看兩個星期。

How long can I borrow the book? （誤）

How long can I keep the book? （正）這本書我能借多長時間 ?
