Madrid Cathedral

According to many experienced travelers, this is the most remarkable destination in Marid. The Catedral de la Almudena was completed near the end of the 20th century, which is where the Prince and Princesses of Asturias, Felipe and Letizia, married in 2004. Official state ceremonies are held here, and though not the most beautiful church in Europe, its roof offers some of the best views of the Madrid skyline. The church is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM (9 AM to 8:30 PM in low season). Admission is free, but you must contribute 1 euro.

The most famous of the city and the starting point for most of Madrid's tours, this plaza used to host bullfights, markets, symphonies, tournaments and even executions. Now it has a lot of travel shops, cafes and restaurants. It's a good place to enjoy a good bar (although quite expensive) and sometimes concerts and events.

At night, it's busy with locals looking for after-hours drinks and tapas. You will visit this place if you go on a Spanish culinary tour, and it is well worth a visit. It is open from 10 AM to midnight.

This is one of the largest markets in Europe and is scattered across the streets between Plaza Mayor and Puerta de Toledo, with nearly 1000 stalls selling antiques, books, jewelry and clothing. It opens at 7 AM and lasts until 2:30 pm.
