國(guó)際調(diào)查發(fā)現(xiàn):上海老師水平最高

　　Experts have rated Shanghai's junior high schoolteachers among the world's most qualified, thanksto their diversified teaching approaches, well-rounded training and rewarding career paths.

　　The assessment came after local teachers scoredhighest in 12 indicators in an international survey.

　　上海老師得到這一高度評(píng)價(jià)是因?yàn)樗麄冊(cè)谝豁?xiàng)國(guó)際調(diào)查中獲得了12個(gè)指標(biāo)的最高分?jǐn)?shù)。

　　The city attaches great importance to cultivating first-class teachers and giving themrewarding career opportunities, said Zhang Minxuan, director of the Research Institute ofInternational and Comparative Education at Shanghai Normal University.

　　In addition to the 12 indicators, such as efficiency of lessons, encouraging students to beengaged in classes, and professional training, Shanghai teachers' overall performance innearly 40 indicators far exceeded the international average standard, the survey found.

　　調(diào)查還顯示，上海教師不僅在12項(xiàng)指標(biāo)(包括課程效率、調(diào)動(dòng)學(xué)生積極性、專業(yè)能力等)中獲得高分，在其他近40個(gè)指標(biāo)中，其分?jǐn)?shù)也遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)超過(guò)了世界教育者的平均水平。

　　It was carried out by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

　　Nearly 4,000 Shanghai teachers from 199 junior high schools responded to the survey, whichalso polled teachers in 37 other countries and regions, including Australia, Italy, Singapore andJapan, over the past three years.

　　近三年以來(lái)，有來(lái)自上海市199所初中的近4000名教師參與了此次調(diào)查。調(diào)查還涵蓋了澳大利亞、意大利、新加坡、日本等37個(gè)國(guó)家的教師。

　　In an interview run by the journal Shanghai Education on WeChat, Karine Tremblay, directorof the survey project, said Shanghai teachers have in-depth exchanges between peers, whichhelps them to "grow together on a fast track".

　　"We found that many initiatives concerning teachers' professional development implementedin Shanghai can serve as world models," she said.

　　In the OECD's 2012 Program for International Student Assessment, Shanghai students toppedthe ranks in math, reading and science tests in competition with those from dozens ofcountries.

　　This helped to generate the BBC documentary series Are Our Kids Tough Enough? ChineseSchool, which was broadcast in August.

　　In the series, five Chinese teachers took over a class of 50 teenagers at a school in southernEngland and taught them in a traditional Chinese way - no talking, no questions, and withlessons focused on note-taking and repetition. The documentary sparked heated debate onthe teaching styles in the two countries.

　　"But the survey results showed that it could be a different story with Shanghai teachers,"Zhang said.

　　The survey found that teachers who said that thinking and reasoning are more importantthan passing on knowledge to students accounted for 96 percent of the respondents, thehighest proportion globally.

　　調(diào)查顯示，96%的老師認(rèn)為思辨能力的培養(yǎng)比獲得知識(shí)的多少更重要。持有這種想法的老師比例是全世界最高的。

　　Zheng Yiwen, a math teacher at an elite high school in Shanghai's Changning district, said: "We prioritize giving students opportunities to think over methods to solve a question bythemselves, pair discussions and group work. ... Moreover, we encourage them to givemultiple answers to a question."

　　來(lái)自上海長(zhǎng)寧區(qū)某重點(diǎn)中學(xué)的數(shù)學(xué)老師鄭逸文說(shuō)道：“我們非常重視讓學(xué)生思考，通過(guò)相互討論和小組合作讓他們自行解決問題。同時(shí)，我們還鼓勵(lì)他們對(duì)一個(gè)問題做出多樣解答。”

　　The survey also found that all teachers in Shanghai receive in-house training, with a veteranteacher as a one-on-one instructor.

　　The proportion of teachers often observing other teachers' classes was 99 percent, the world'shighest.
