"I was very nervous and my words just came outwrong," he wrote on Facebook.

The Night Manager star drew censure on socialmedia for a speech in which he referred to aidworkers in South Sudan "binge-watching" the programme.

The British actor said that his "only intention" had been "to salute (their) incredible braveryand courage."

Hiddleston won his first Golden Globe on Sunday - for best performance by an actor in a mini-series or TV movie - for his role in the BBC's adaptation of John le Carre's novel about a hotelmanager involved in arms smuggling.
