Big mouth 一詞用以自貶或責(zé)怪他人。自貶時,通常在說溜了嘴或批評他人而口不擇言后用之。此一語氣并不粗俗,正式社交場所亦可使用。
Big mouth 用來——損人,貶人
1. big mouth 大嘴巴,口不擇言的人

注:
1. WABC總部設(shè)在紐約市,系迪士尼公司(Walt Disney Co.)旗下的廣播電臺。美國的廣播電臺臺名冠K或W,電臺駐密西西比河以西的用(K),位于密西西比河以東的用(W)。
2. right-winged 屬右翼的,指思想保守的 (如反對死刑及墮胎等),多是用來形容共和黨籍人士(Republicans)。
3. Gallagher 駐紐約州阿班尼市——脫口秀 (talk show——訪談節(jié)目)主持人。
4. Grant 因說話過于刻薄惡毒,令迪士尼公司不悅而炒了魷魚。

1. eyes snapping with fire 借“眼睛有劈啦作響的火”喻“忍無可忍”解。由副詞從句When his eyes snap (snapped/are(were)snapping) with fire簡化而成。
2. Chavez,Rosario 兩人當(dāng)時二十四歲,皆輕量級(135磅)職業(yè)拳擊手,在交鋒前后者不斷挑釁時,為前者對現(xiàn)場記者所說的話。
3. what he called me Rosario罵Chavez為膽戰(zhàn)心驚的人(a coward)。
4. the fight 指兩個人要到外面去對決算賬。

注:
1. mari… 是marijuana (大麻),欲言又止,只說出了前半個音節(jié)。
2. do the talking 負(fù)責(zé)來說,the talking是純名詞性的動名詞 (Verbal noun),當(dāng)do的賓語,類似用法很多,如 My mother does all the washing. (衣服都是媽媽洗的。)I did the telephoning. (電話是我打的。)
A. “The way you talked to your wife after the game—if I were her2—— I’d have left you. Seriously.”
“說真的,比賽后你那樣跟你太太說話,換我是她的話,就會離開你啊?!?
B. “Know what might help2? Learn to mind your own business and keep your big mouth shut.”

1. If I were her 是虛擬語氣 (Subjunctive mood),但在語法上主語補(bǔ)足語應(yīng)該用主格的she,但在口語中常用賓格取代。
2. Know what might help? (你可)知道該怎樣做嗎?語句中省去了 “Do You”。
