雪萊（Percy B. Shelley, 1792-1822），英國浪漫派重要詩人。早年受到啟蒙思想的熏陶，一生痛恨封建壓迫，追求民主。他的詩歌氣概宏偉，畫面波瀾壯闊，一些作品富于政治思想，生動(dòng)而深刻地反映了動(dòng)蕩不安的社會(huì)現(xiàn)實(shí)。同時(shí)，他將對(duì)社會(huì)的批判和對(duì)理想政治的追求溶于抒情性的自然圖景之中，獲得了很高的藝術(shù)性，如十四行詩《峨席曼迭斯》。雪萊的抒情詩優(yōu)美、狂放，具有奇幻的意象，并富有深刻的哲理，極具寓意性和預(yù)言性，如傳世的不朽名篇《寄西風(fēng)之歌》、《致云雀》等。

我遇到一位來自古國的旅人，

I met a traveller from an antique land,

他說：兩根沒身軀的石刻巨腿

Who said—"Two vast and trunkless legs of stone

站在瀚海里。沙土中，巨腿附近，

Stand in the desart. ... Near them, on the sand,

半陷著一具破損的臉型，那皺眉，

Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
