Ode to a Nightingale

濟(jì)　慈

John Keats

濟(jì)慈（John Keats，1795-1821），英國浪漫主義時(shí)期的杰出詩人。他出身貧寒，一生遭遇多種不幸，對社會現(xiàn)實(shí)不滿，然而，他卻始終在詩歌中抒發(fā)對美的向往，通過頌揚(yáng)美來否定和批判現(xiàn)實(shí)，表達(dá)他對真善美的崇高人生境界的追求。在他短暫的一生中，他創(chuàng)作了大批精美而感人至深的詩作，以可感的意象，自然的語言，純凈的風(fēng)格和完美的結(jié)構(gòu)傳達(dá)他對自然與人生的美好愿望。主要作品有六首頌詩及長詩《恩弟米安》、《海披里安》、《圣亞尼節(jié)前夕》等。

我的心疼痛，困倦和麻木使神經(jīng)

My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains

Full of the true, the blushful Hippocrene ,

With beaded bubbles winking at the brim,

And purple-stained mouth;

That I might drink, and leave the world unseen,

同你一起隱入那幽深的林木：

And with thee fade away into the forest dim:

Fade far away, dissolve , and quite forget

What thou among the leaves hast never known,

The weariness, the fever, and the fret

And leaden-eyed despairs,

Away! away! for I will fly to thee,

Not charioted by Bacchus and his pards,

盡管遲鈍的腦子困惑，猶豫，

But on the viewless wings of Poesy,

Though the dull brain perplexes and retards:

Already with thee! tender is the night,

And haply the Queen-Moon is on her throne,

Cluster'd around by all her starry Fays;

But here there is no light,

只有微風(fēng)吹過朦朧的綠色

Save what from heaven is with the breezes blown

和曲折的苔徑才帶來一線天光。

Through verdurous glooms and winding mossy ways.

I cannot see what flowers are at my feet,

看不見枝頭掛什么溫馨的嫩蕊，

Nor what soft incense hangs upon the boughs,

只是在暗香里猜想每一朵奇葩，

But, in embalmed darkness, guess each sweet

猜想這時(shí)令怎樣把千嬌百媚

Wherewith the seasonable month endows

賜給草地，林莽，野生的果樹枝；

The grass, the thicket, and the fruit-tree wild;

那白色山楂花，開放在牧野的薔薇；

White hawthorn, and the pastoral eglantine ;

隱藏在綠葉叢中易凋的紫羅蘭；

Fast fading violets cover'd up in leaves;

那五月中旬的愛子——

And mid-May's eldest child,

盛滿了露制醇醪的麝香玫瑰，

The coming musk-rose, full of dewy wine,

夏夜的蚊蠅在這里嗡嗡盤桓。

The murmurous haunt of flies on summer eves.

我在黑暗里諦聽著：已經(jīng)多少次

Darkling I listen; and, for many a time

幾乎把安寧的死神當(dāng)作了戀人，

I have been half in love with easeful Death,

我用深思的詩韻喚他的名字，

Call'd him soft names in many a mused rhyme ,

請他把我這口氣化入空明；

To take into the air my quiet breath;

Now more than ever seems it rich to die,

To cease upon the midnight with no pain,

In such an ecstasy !

Thou wast not born for death, immortal Bird!

妓的世紀(jì)也未能使你屈服；

No hungry generations tread thee down;

The voice I hear this passing night was heard

在往古時(shí)代打動過皇帝和村夫：

In ancient days by emperor and clown:

恐怕這同樣的歌聲也曾經(jīng)促使

Perhaps the self-same song that found a path

路得 流淚，她滿懷憂傷地站在

Through the sad heart of Ruth, when, sick for home,

異地的麥田里，一心思念著家邦；

She stood in tears amid the alien corn;

這歌聲還曾多少次

The same that oft-times hath

迷醉了窗里人 ，她開窗面對大海

Charm'd magic casements , opening on the foam

險(xiǎn)惡的浪濤，在那失落的仙鄉(xiāng)。

Of perilous seas, in faery lands forlorn.

失落！呵，這字眼像鐘聲一敲，

Forlorn ! the very word is like a bell

催我離開你，回復(fù)孤寂的自己！

To toll me back from thee to my sole self!

再見！幻想這個(gè)騙人的小妖，

Adieu ! the fancy cannot cheat so well

徒有虛名，再不能使人著迷。

As she is famed to do, deceiving elf.

再見！再見！你哀怨的歌音遠(yuǎn)去，

Adieu! adieu! thy plaintive anthem fades

流過了草地，越過了靜靜的溪水，

Past the near meadows, over the still stream,

飄上了山腰，如今已深深地埋湮

Up the hill-side; and now 'tis buried deep

在附近的密林幽谷：

In the next valley-glades:

這是幻象？還是醒時(shí)的夢寐？

Was it a vision, or a waking dream?

音樂遠(yuǎn)去了：——我醒著，還是在酣眠？

Fled is that music: —Do I wake or sleep?
