　　寓言故事:The Bat's Lame Argument蝙蝠強(qiáng)辯

　　One day, the phoenix celebrated its birthday and all the birds came to congratulate it except the bat.

　　一天，鳳凰做壽，百鳥(niǎo)都來(lái)慶賀，只有蝙蝠沒(méi)有來(lái)。

　　The phoenix was very angry and blamed the bat:

　　鳳凰非常惱火，譴責(zé)蝙蝠說(shuō):

　　"I am the king of birds, and you are my subordinate. Why are you so arrogant and impolite?"

　　“我是鳥(niǎo)中之王，你是我的屬下，你為什么這樣傲慢而沒(méi)有禮貌?”

　　The bat replied:

　　蝙蝠回答說(shuō):

　　"I have four legs and belong to the beast family. I am not your subordinate. Why should I go to congratulate you?"

　　“我有四只腳，屬于獸類(lèi)，我不是你的屬下。我為什么要朝賀你呢?”

　　On another day, the unicorn celebrated its birthday, and the bat didn't go to congratulate it either. The unicorn was angry too and cursed the bat roundly.

　　又有一天，麒麟過(guò)生日，蝙蝠也沒(méi)有去慶賀。麒麟也非常惱火，大罵蝙蝠。

　　The bat argued lamely:

　　蝙蝠強(qiáng)辯說(shuō):

　　"I have wings and belong to the bird family, while you belong to the beast family. Why should I go to congratulate you?"

　　“我有翅膀，屬于禽類(lèi)，而你屬于獸類(lèi)，我為什么要朝賀你呢?”
