As is shown in the drawing, on a balance or pair of scales, the gold of "Benefit" carries more weight than the heart of "Honesty". In the middle of the balance, a man is sliding toward the gold of "Benefit". However, honesty is the most important characteristic that a person requires to be successful in life. Only by consistently proving to be honest can a person earn the precious trust of family members, friends and business partners.
Although it would be good to have both, it seems that wealth has more of a magnetic drawing power than honesty and integrity. If you could only have one it appears that it would be harder to retain one's integrity than to increase one's bank balance. And if your wealth increases it seems that honesty decreases. This seems to be a current phenomenon where people are more concerned with their self interests at the expense of their integrity, just like the man in the drawing.
In the long run, an honest person may not be wealthy, but he or she will have earned the love and respect of the people closest to them, which, in my opinion, is a measure of a successful life.
如圖所示，在一架天平或一臺秤上，"利益"之金重于"誠信"之心。在天平中央，一名男子正滑向"利益"之金。然而，一個人若想人生有成，應(yīng)具備的最重要的特征就是誠信。只有始終做到誠信，才能贏得家人、朋友和生意伙伴的寶貴信任。
既有誠信又得利益當(dāng)然很好，但似乎財富比誠實(shí)和正直的吸引力更大。如果只能擁有一樣，看上去似乎保持誠實(shí)比增加銀行賬戶余額要難。而且，如果一個人的財富增加了，似乎人就沒那么誠實(shí)了。目前似乎就存在這個現(xiàn)象：人們更關(guān)心個人的利益，卻以損害誠信為代價，就像畫中的男人一樣。
從長遠(yuǎn)來看，一個誠實(shí)的人可能不會富有，但他或她將贏得周圍人的愛戴和尊敬。在我看來，這就是成功人生的衡量標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。
