　　近日，美國(guó)著名女校維斯理學(xué)院(Wellesley College)邀請(qǐng)尼日利亞女作家奇瑪曼達(dá)·恩戈茲·阿迪契(Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie)在2015年畢業(yè)典禮上發(fā)表演講。阿迪契與即將踏入社會(huì)的女生們分享了她對(duì)女權(quán)主義的獨(dú)到見(jiàn)解和一些人生建議，她說(shuō)，“永遠(yuǎn)不要因?yàn)?lsquo;你是個(gè)女人’而去做什么或放棄什么。”

　　演講要點(diǎn)(獻(xiàn)給女孩們)：

　　All over the world, girls are raised to make themselves likeable, to twist themselves into shapes that suit other people. Please do not twist yourself into shapes to please. Don't do it.

　　全世界的女孩都被教導(dǎo)要讓自己惹人喜愛(ài)，改造自己去迎合他人，請(qǐng)不要這樣做，千萬(wàn)不要。

　　If someone likes that version of you, that version of you that is false and holds back, then they actually just like that twisted shape, and not you. And the world is such a gloriously multifaceted, diverse place that there are people in the world who will like you, the real you as you are.

　　如果有人喜歡那樣的你，那個(gè)虛假的有所隱瞞的你，那他們喜歡的只是那個(gè)虛影，而不是你。世界那么奇妙多樣化，總有人會(huì)喜歡真實(shí)的你，那個(gè)你原本的樣子。

　　Teach your students to see that vulnerability is a HUMAN rather than a FEMALE trait. Commission magazine articles that teach men HOW TO KEEP A WOMAN HAPPY. Because there are already too many articles that tell women how to keep a man happy.

　　教導(dǎo)你的學(xué)生，脆弱啊你的名字不止是女人。撰寫(xiě)教導(dǎo)男人取悅女人的雜志文章，因?yàn)橐呀?jīng)有太多的文章教導(dǎo)女人如何取悅男人。

　　I don't speak to provoke. I speak because our time on earth is short, and each moment that we are not our truest selves, each moment we pretend to be what we are not, each moment we say what we do not mean because we imagine that is what somebody want us to say, then we are wasting our time on earth. I don't mean to sound precious, but please don't waste your time on earth.

　　我發(fā)言不為挑釁，只因?yàn)樯^(guò)短暫，而每一刻的逃避，每一刻的偽裝，每一刻的言不由衷，都是在浪費(fèi)自己的生命。我不是在燉雞湯，但請(qǐng)不要浪費(fèi)生命。

　　There are certain things my mother believes a person should do for the simple reason that sad person "is a woman". Such as occasionally nod and smile, even when smiling is the last thing one wants to do. Such as strategically give in to certain arguments, especially when arguing with a non-female. Such as get married and have children. I can think of fairly good reasons for doing any of these. But "because you are a woman" is not one of them. Never ever accept "because you are a woman" as a reason for doing or not doing anything.

　　我母親認(rèn)為，身為女人，就意味著有些事情不得不做。例如不時(shí)點(diǎn)頭和微笑，即使她可能并不情愿;例如策略性地讓步，尤其是在和男性爭(zhēng)執(zhí)的時(shí)候;例如結(jié)婚生子，我可以想出很多正當(dāng)?shù)睦碛扇プ鲞@些事情，但絕不會(huì)因?yàn)?ldquo;你是一個(gè)女人”。永遠(yuǎn)不要將“自己是一個(gè)女人”作為做或不做某件事的理由。

　　Now girls are often raised to see love only as giving. Women are praised for their love when that love is an act of giving. But to love is to give AND to take. Please love by giving and by taking. Give and be given. Dare to take.

　　現(xiàn)在的女孩把愛(ài)情視為奉獻(xiàn)，女人因她們的給予之愛(ài)而倍加褒獎(jiǎng)。但是愛(ài)意味著給予和索取。請(qǐng)記得在給予愛(ài)的同時(shí)也要索取愛(ài)。給予和被給予。勇敢去索取。
