A:  are you still coming to my place for dinner tomorrow night?
 
你明天晚上還會來我家吃飯嗎？
 
B:  of course. Is the dinner still on?
 
當然去.你的晚餐會還開嗎?
 
A:  yes, I was just wondering how you and your roommate were planning on coming to my place.
 
開,我只是想知道你和你的室友打算怎么來我家？
 
B:  we were planning on walking both ways since the weather is still nice.
 
最近天氣很不錯，所以我們打算來回都步行。
 
A:  that's what I thought you would do. Listen, I live in a bit of a rough neighborhood. It's just down the street from all the bars. You probably don't want to be walking around after dark.

B:  it can't be that bad.

A:  I wish it wasn't, but there is actually a lot of crime and prostitution around here.

B:  really? I never would have guessed. The criminals must only come out in the evenings, because I've never noticed anything strange when I've been at your house in the daytime.
 
真的?。课覐膩頉]想到會這樣。犯罪事件一定都是在晚上才發(fā)生的吧。因為我以前白天去你家的時候從來沒發(fā)現(xiàn)附近有什么奇怪的地方。
 
A:  do me a favor, and take a taxi. It'd make me feel a lot better.

B:  ok, we will. How do you get around in the evenings?
 
好，我們會的。那你晚上怎么在附近活動呢？
 
A:  when I first moved in, I walked everywhere. But within a week, I had my purse stolen—just a block away from the police station! Now, I always take public transportation.
 
我剛搬進來的時候，到哪兒都是走著去. 可是不到一個星期,我的錢包就被偷了---要知道只隔著一個街區(qū)就是警察局了!現(xiàn)在,我通常都乘坐公共交通工具.
 
B:  has anything else happened to you?

A:  nothing else has happened to me, but I have seen quite a few fights on the streets after the bars close.
 
我本人是沒再發(fā)生過什么了,可是我在街上看到過幾次打架,都是酒吧打烊以后.
