　　1. as引導(dǎo)比較狀語從句的基本結(jié)構(gòu)：as…as…

　　Eyes are as eloquent as lips (are).

　　眼睛像嘴唇一樣富于表現(xiàn)力。

　　Time is of no account with great thoughts, which are as fresh today as when they first passed through their authors’ minds ages ago.

　　對偉大的思想來說，時(shí)間是無關(guān)緊要的。那些思想直到今日，仍然和往昔在其創(chuàng)始者的頭腦中最初出現(xiàn)時(shí)一樣新鮮。

　　注意：為了保持句子結(jié)構(gòu)的平衡，as…as…結(jié)構(gòu)中的從句還可以使用倒裝，即“as … as + 助動(dòng)詞 + 主語”，例如：

　　The computer revolution may well change society as fundamentally as did the Industrial Revolution.

　　計(jì)算機(jī)革命對于我們?nèi)祟惿鐣?huì)的改變之深刻，就如同當(dāng)年的工業(yè)革命一樣。

　　2. 常用句型：as + adj./adv. + as

　　Do you enjoy listening to records? I find records are often as good as, if not better than, an actual performance.

　　3. 常用句型：as + adj. + a/an + 可數(shù)名詞單數(shù) + as

　　這里的前一個(gè)as作為副詞來修飾形容詞，而這個(gè)形容詞同時(shí)又修飾一個(gè)名詞。使用這個(gè)結(jié)構(gòu)時(shí)要特別注意這里的形容詞置于不定冠詞之前這一特點(diǎn)。

　　Rarely has a technol**ical development had as great an impact on so many aspects of social, economic, and cultural development as the growth of electronics.

　　很少有哪項(xiàng)科技的發(fā)展能像電子技術(shù)的發(fā)展這樣，對我們的社會(huì)、經(jīng)濟(jì)以及文化等諸多方面產(chǎn)生如此重要的影響。

　　His function is anal**ous to that of a judge, who must accept the obligation of revealing in as obvious a manner as possible the course of reasoning which led him to his decision.

　　他的職責(zé)與法官相似，必須承擔(dān)這樣的責(zé)任：用盡可能明了的方式來展示自己作出的決定的推理過程。

　　注意：as…as…結(jié)構(gòu)在否定句中個(gè)as可以用so代替。

　　No other modern nation devotes so small a portion of its wealth to public health as the United States does.

　　沒有一個(gè)現(xiàn)代國家像美國這樣，只把自己的財(cái)富很少一部分投入到公共健康事業(yè)中去。

　　4. 常用句型：as much … as…

　　很多同學(xué)在看到as much as時(shí)，很可能將其理解為“和……一樣多”，其實(shí)不一定。試比較：

　　I love you as much as he does. 我同他一樣愛你。

　　It is as much as your responsibility as ours. 這是我們的責(zé)任，同樣也是你的責(zé)任。

　　在第二句中的as much as表示兩個(gè)事物之間程度的比較，表示在“同等程度上”，可以理解為“和……一樣，正如……”。更多例句：

　　The atmosphere is as much a part of the earth as are its soils and the water of its lakes, rivers and oceans.

　　地球周圍的大氣層，就如同地球上的泥土及湖泊、河流、海洋中的水一樣，都是地球的組成部分。

　　5. 常用句型：not … so much as

　　從結(jié)構(gòu)上看，not … so much as有兩種具體形式：not A so much as B或者not so much A as B。從意思上看，該句型的基本含義是“與其說A不如說B”，或者“是B，而不是A”。另A和B是兩個(gè)被比較的平行結(jié)構(gòu)，即A和B應(yīng)同為介詞短語、動(dòng)詞不定式、名詞短語或其他平行結(jié)構(gòu)。

　　The great use of a school education is not so much to teach you things as to teach you the art of learning.

　　學(xué)校教育的偉大作用不在于教會(huì)你多少東西，而在于教會(huì)你學(xué)習(xí)的技巧。

　　The great thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving.

　　人生的意義不在于你目前身處何方，而在與你心想何方。

　　The conveniences that Americans desire reflects not so much a leisurely lifestyle as a busy lifestyle in which even minutes of time are too valuable to be wasted.

　　美國人所渴望的種種便利措施，與其說是反映了一種休閑的生活方式，倒不如說是反映了一種忙碌的生活方式，正是因?yàn)槊β?，所以每分鐘都很寶貴而不容浪費(fèi)。

　　6. 常用句型： (just) as …, so…

　　這一句型可用于表示類比，基本意思是“正如……，所以”，so之后可以接倒裝結(jié)構(gòu)。

　　Just as virtue is its own reward, so is vice its own punishment.

　　善有善報(bào)，惡有惡報(bào)。

　　Just as food nourish the body, so do books enrich the mind.

　　食物滋養(yǎng)身體，書本豐富心靈。

　　7. 常用句型：A is to B what/as C is to D

　　此句型用來表達(dá)事物之間的類比關(guān)系，從字面上理解就是“A與B之間的關(guān)系，就類似于C與D之間的關(guān)系”。

　　Personality is to a man what perfume is to a flower.

　　人的品格，猶如花的芳香。

　　這一句型有可以改寫為“what/as C is to D, so is A to B或A is to B”。

　　As blood vessel is to a man’s body, (so is) railway is to transportation.

　　鐵路網(wǎng)絡(luò)對于交通來說，就如同人體的血管對于整個(gè)人體一樣重要。
