  1.depressing a. 沉悶的,令人沮喪的

  A: They failed the game! Haw depressing!

  甲:他們箱了這場比賽。真掃興!

  B: Really? it's unbelievable

  乙:真的嗎?太難以置信了!

  2.despair n. 失望,絕望

  A: How's your colleague?

  甲:你的同事怎么樣?

  B: He is in despair. All hope is gone.

  乙:他絕望了,希望都破滅了。

  3.despondent a. 甲失望的,喪氣的

  A: You look despondent. What's wrong?

  甲:你的樣子很沮喪。怎么了?

  B: The boss's fired me.

  乙:老板把我解雇了。

  4.disappointed a. 使失望的

  A: I'm disappointed in you!How would you have lied like that?

  B : Yes, he never seems to have anything to worry about. He's always carefree.

  A: I don't hold out too much hope for bonus this year.

  12.letdown n. 失望

  A: The ending of the story was a real letdown.

  甲:故事的結(jié)局真令人失望。

  B: It's a waste of time to see such a film.

  乙:看這樣的電影真是浪費時間。

  13.optimistic a. 樂觀的,樂觀主義的

  A: What do you think of the future of your country?

  甲:你覺得你們國家的前途怎么樣?

  B: I'm optimistic about the country's economic future though it has beets affected by the economic crisis of Southeast Asia.

  乙:我們國家雖然受到東南亞經(jīng)濟危機的影響,但我對我們國家的經(jīng)濟前途持樂觀態(tài)度。

  14.pessimistic a. 悲觀的

  A: Are you sure of getting the well-paid job?

  甲:你確信能得到那份高薪的工作嗎?

  B: No, I'm still pessimistic about my chances of getting it.

  乙:不,我對于自己能否得到那份工作還很悲觀。
