Sports Ethic? Sports Salaries?

For hundreds of years, Americans were told "Do your best in sports,whether or not you win." Part of this "sports ethic" comes from the Bible's teaching that no matter what you do, God expects you to do it "with all your might." Another statement of this ethic is expressed in the Olympic Creed: The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the stuggle.The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.

However, as various sports have become ways to make money, this earlier sports ethic is being replaced by the need to win, for winners make more money than losers. Professional players are now paid unbelievable salaries, more than the presidents of the biggest companies and much more than the President of the United States.

體育道德？體育薪水？

在過(guò)去的幾百年里，美國(guó)人都被教誨“在體育比賽中，不論輸贏都要盡最大的努力。”這一“體育道德標(biāo)準(zhǔn)”部分來(lái)自圣經(jīng)的教誨，即不論你做什么，上帝都希望你“全力以赴”。對(duì)這一道德標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的另一個(gè)陳述在奧林匹克的綱領(lǐng)中有所表達(dá)：奧運(yùn)會(huì)最重要的事情不是獲勝，而是參與，就如人生最重要的事情不是勝利而是奮斗。首要的事情不是征服而是拼搏。

然而，由于各種體育運(yùn)動(dòng)已經(jīng)變成賺錢(qián)的途徑，所以，這一早先的體育道德宗旨正被獲勝的需求所替代，因?yàn)閮?yōu)勝者要比失敗者賺的錢(qián)多。職業(yè)選手現(xiàn)在被支付的工資令人難以置信，比最大公司的總裁掙得多，比美國(guó)總統(tǒng)掙得也要多得多。
