There be句型是英語中常用的重要句型之一，意為“某處有某物或某人”，句子的結尾往往帶有地點狀語或時間狀語，其中there是引導詞，本身沒有詞義，be是謂語動詞，be后的名詞或代詞是句子的主語。

21-3 There be句型的各種結構形式

1.There be句型的時態(tài)形式

There be句型也有多種時態(tài)形式，其時態(tài)結構由謂語動詞be來體現(xiàn)。

（1）一般現(xiàn)在時結構：There is ...；There are ...如：

There is some milk in the fridge.冰箱里有一些牛奶。

There are some boys playing basketball over there.有一些男孩在那兒打籃球。

（2）一般將來時結構：①There is going to be ...；②There will be ...如：

There is going to be an English film tonight.今晚將有一場英語電影。

There will be rain next week.下星期要下雨。

（3）一般過去時結構：There was；There were 如：

There wasn't any change in him.他沒有什么變化。

There were some children swimming in the river.有些小孩在河里游泳。

（4）現(xiàn)在完成時結構：There have been ...如：

There have been a lot of inquiries.提出的詢問有很多。

There have been many such accidents.已發(fā)生了好幾起那樣的事故。

2.There be句型的變式

有時There be句型中的動詞be可根據情況換為 live，stand，lie，seem，appear，come等。如：

Once upon a time there lived a man with the name of Joe Beef.從前有個名叫喬·比夫的人。

There seems something the matter with her.她好像是出了什么事似的。

There stands an old temple at the top of the hill.在小山頂上有一座古廟。

3.There be與情態(tài)動詞連用

There be句型有時可以與情態(tài)動詞連用，情態(tài)動詞放在be的前面，此時be無數(shù)的變化。

（1）There be與can/could 連用，表示推斷，意為“可能有……”。如：

There can be no life on the earth without water.沒有水地球上就可能沒有生命。

（2）There be與may/might 連用，表示猜測，意為“可能有……，大概有……”。如：

There might still be hope.可能還有希望。

There may be a letter for me.大概有我的一封信。

There may be a storm tomorrow.明天可能有暴風雨。

There might be drinks if you wait for a bit.如果你等一會兒，可能會有飲料。

（3）There be與must 連用，表示肯定推測，意為“一定有……”。如：

There must be a mistake.一定是弄錯了。

He felt there must be something wrong.他感到準有什么問題。

There must be somebody at home.家里肯定有人。

（4）There be與should 連用，意為“應當有……；應該有……”。如：

There shouldn't be any doubt about it.對此不應有什么懷疑。

（5）There be與ought to 連用，意為“應當有……；應該有……”。如：

There ought to be a comma here.這兒應有一個逗號。

There ought to be traffic lights at this crossroads.這個十字路口應該有紅綠燈。

（6）There be與used to 連用，意為“過去有……”。如：

There used to be a small park just around the corner.以前在那個拐角就有一個小公園。

There used to be a hospital here.過去這里有家醫(yī)院。

There used to be four cinemas in the town.Now there is only one.過去這座城市有四家電影院?，F(xiàn)在只有一家了。

4.There be句型there的省略

在There be句型中，如果地點狀語放在句首，there有時可以省略。如：

In front of our school （there）runs a clean and clear stream.我們學校門前流淌著一條干凈、清澈的小溪。

On the top of the desk （there）are piles of books.桌子上有幾堆書。

From behind the door （there）rushed out a white and black dog.從門后跑出來一條黑白相間的狗。
