　　Women tend to believe the basic fact that這后面要出現(xiàn)一個同位語從句，而難點主要就在這里對吧。沒關(guān)系，接下來我們繼續(xù)抓主線。if a man cannot subdue them thoroughly and let them to admire his power and potential value of survival in this world, he certainly may not hold and demonstrate his ability to provide protection for his offspring and themselves in the future. 這部分看似很長，其實只要你能抓住句子的邏輯脈絡(luò)就OK。If部分條件狀語說如果一個男人沒有能力征服他的女神，(and)不能向自己的女神證明自己很牛X。大家注意這部分，中間有個and來鏈接兩部分，這就說明這兩部分是并列關(guān)系，其實你讀懂一部分就足夠，意思就是說如果一個男人不夠牛X…。如果你能理解到這個程度上就足夠。

　　If條件句的后面是主句部分，主句當然就是這個條件成立后的結(jié)果了。he certainly may not hold and demonstrate his ability to provide protection for his offspring and themselves in the future.你看到了什么?沒錯還是and這個并列結(jié)構(gòu)，所以句子直接簡化理解成：he may not demonstrate his ability to provide protection for (his offspring and themselves) in the future.這就是說這個男人就沒有能力在未來保護他的女神以及他們的后代。這個句子只要你能理解到這個層次就算完成了80%的任務(wù)了。因為后面那個which引導(dǎo)了個非限定性定語從句，其實就是從進化心理學(xué)的角度上來解釋前面講的這個生活中的現(xiàn)象到底在科學(xué)上是怎么回事。which is a distinctive mechanism (successfully evolved over hundreds of millions of years in human being generations這部分是前面mechanism的后置定語，就是修飾描述是什么樣的一種機制的)—in which those excellent genes can obtain prior opportunity to be paired, replicated and then passed on. (這里又出現(xiàn)了 in which，這個討厭的東西其實就是一個同位語而已，專家最后用一個同位語告訴你說：這種成千上百萬年的古老機制就是為了上優(yōu)秀的基因得到優(yōu)先的配對和傳承嘛。

　　言外之意就是說只有這樣人類才能不斷適應(yīng)環(huán)境生存到今天啊。不過據(jù)我自己的考證，人類進化從非洲智人開始移居到世界各地群居散布至今也就幾萬年，到頭十幾萬年，哪里會有成百上千萬年呢?相關(guān)專家又開始攔不住嘴胡說了不是?) 好啦，接下來我估計你已經(jīng)看出誰是正確答案了，那就是D選項。D選項倒是挺長的哈，語言上怎么對應(yīng)的呢?我們看看吧，envy和worship對應(yīng)了原文中的admire;preeminent characteristics對應(yīng)了原文中的power and potential value of survival in this world.而would deny his value in our society對應(yīng)了原文中的he may not demonstrate his ability to provide protection for (his offspring and themselves) in the future. 原因很簡單吧，如果你的女神否認了你的社會價值，那不就等同于她不認為你能夠證明你有能力嘛。which is a traditionally special system built in every human generation by which the qualified genes can take advantage to be survived and duplicated.定語從句中，傳統(tǒng)意義上的特殊系統(tǒng)就等同于原文中說的古老機制，后面說合格的基因能夠利用這種機制去生存和復(fù)制，就等同于原文中說的優(yōu)秀基因的復(fù)制和傳承，這是一個意思。

　　怎么樣，大家明白了嗎?托福中的閱讀其實只是在考察你讀句子的能力，尤其是這種長難句，你只要有能力劃分語法主干和閱讀邏輯脈絡(luò)，那么即便是這樣無出其右的句子簡化題也可以應(yīng)對自如。
