Admire to do sth.很想做某事，admire doing敬佩所做的事。admir是及物動詞，通常的結(jié)構(gòu)是admire sb, admire sth,admire sb for sth。

admire基本詞義

1.欽佩，贊美，羨慕：

He’s very much admired by his students. 他的學(xué)生十分欽佩他。

2.觀賞，欣賞：

We stopped to admire the view. 我們停下來欣賞風(fēng)景。

3.贊美，夸獎：

Aren’t you going to admire my new hat? 你難道不想夸夸我的新帽子嗎？

admire用法

1. 其后不接雙賓語或that引導(dǎo)的賓語從句，如可說：

I admire his bravery. 但不說：

I admire him his bravery.或I admire that he is brave. 注：

若語義上要接that從句，可考慮改為the fact that結(jié)構(gòu)：

I admired the fact that he would talk to students outside the classroom or talk with them on the telephone. 我羨慕他經(jīng)常在課外與學(xué)生聊天或通過電話與學(xué)生聊天。雖然不能后接that從句，但可接疑問詞引導(dǎo)的從句：

I admire how well she speaks English. 我羨慕她英語講得那么好。

2. 其后不接不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)，即不說admire sb to do sth，要表示“羨慕(贊賞)某人做某事”，英語可用admire sb [sb’s] doing sth：

They all admired his behaving so bravely. 他們欽佩他表現(xiàn)如此勇敢。
