W: What a marvelous oil painting. Whose work is it?

M: It’s painted by Yifei Chen, the world famous painter and director.

W: It gives me a sense of serenity.

M: Serenity and peace fill his painting which characterizes his works.

Dialogue 2.

W: Wow, that’s a really amazing piece of art you are creating.

M: Talking about amazing? You’ve got to check out Bech’s. Her work will really blow your way.

W: Really? What’s so amazing about her work?

M: She uses the painting style of Dadaism in her work.

Dialogue 3.

W: How can I appreciate modern art? It leaves me cool.

M: It would help if you follow the 4 steps in looking at modern art.

W: What should I do then?

M: Step 1 is to identify the media used in the work. Is it a drying, a painting, an etching or lithograph.

W: I think I can do that. I can tell the difference between an etching and a lithograph.

M: Step 2 is to take an inventory of exactly what you see, the lines, the colors, the shapes and textures.

W: Well, I suppose I can do that, too.

M: Step 3 is to think about the interpretation of the piece of art and what the lines, colors and shapes and textures might mean, after analyzing the work from a number perspectives you can make a judgment in step 4.

W: Thank you for the lesson in art appreciation.
