讓優(yōu)秀成為一種習(xí)慣（雙語(yǔ)）

Our character, basically, is a composite of our habits. “Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny,” the maxim goes.

從根本上來(lái)講，我們的個(gè)性是塑成習(xí)慣的成分之一。有一句箴言講到：“播下一個(gè)想法，收獲一個(gè)行動(dòng);播下一個(gè)行動(dòng)，收獲一個(gè)習(xí)慣;播下一個(gè)習(xí)慣，收獲一個(gè)性格;播下一個(gè)性格，收獲一份命運(yùn)。”

Habits are powerful factors in our lives. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character and produce our effectiveness or ineffectiveness.

習(xí)慣是我們生活中有力的因素。因?yàn)榱?xí)慣的持續(xù)性，人們常常不能意識(shí)到它們。于是，每一天，我們的習(xí)慣總在彰顯著我們的性格，我們是否有效率也源自習(xí)慣。

As Horace Mann, the great educator, once said, “Habits are like a cable. We weave a strand of it everyday and soon it cannot be broken.” I personally do not agree with the last part of his expression. I know habits can be learned and unlearned. But I also know it isn't a quick fix. It involves a process and a tremendous commitment.

正如偉大的教育學(xué)家霍瑞斯·曼曾經(jīng)說(shuō)的那樣：“習(xí)慣猶如一根纜繩。我們每日為其編織一股，不久它便不容易斷裂。”我個(gè)人不認(rèn)同他最后一段的表達(dá)。我知曉有些習(xí)慣是后天習(xí)得的，而有些則是不學(xué)就有的?？晌乙裁靼琢?xí)慣無(wú)法速成，它是一段涉及鄭重承諾的過(guò)程。

You cannot find or will you ever find gold on the surface. It has to be discovered and has to be found deep inside the Earth's ground. And it takes years to find the gold and this is why it is so valuable; Not everyone has it.

在地面永遠(yuǎn)都不可能找到黃金。黃金是需要發(fā)掘的，而且只能在地底深處找到。這個(gè)過(guò)程很費(fèi)時(shí)間，所以黃金才那么珍貴，不是每個(gè)人都能夠擁有。

Character is the same. You will not find character on the surface. You can only find character deep inside your soul. And your character is only discovered when there is chaos. Your character is never tested when things are going your way.

品質(zhì)也是如此。你無(wú)法在表面找到你的品質(zhì)，而只能在靈魂深處找到。只有混亂發(fā)生的時(shí)候你才會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)它，只有在事情不順心的時(shí)候你的品質(zhì)才會(huì)得到考驗(yàn)。

You have to dig deep inside of you to find the character and when you do that you will discover the true gold.

向自我的深處挖掘，尋找你的品質(zhì)，這樣你就會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)真正的黃金。

You are consistently remembered on how you treat others. Are you kind or unkind? Do you have manners? Are you respectful? These are the questions we ask each other.

你對(duì)待他人的方式往往會(huì)被別人記在心里。你待人和善嗎?你大方得體嗎?你尊重別人嗎?我們總會(huì)互相問(wèn)這樣的問(wèn)題。

This is why your character is your gold mine. You must guard your character just like you would guard your gold. Do not let anyone take it or destroy it.

這就是為什么說(shuō)你的品質(zhì)是你的金礦。你一定要守護(hù)你的品質(zhì)，就像你會(huì)守護(hù)自己的黃金一樣。不要讓別人拿走它或破壞它。

People will test you in life and events in life will shake you. However, when this happens please look deep inside and find your character because your character will help you succeed any event.

在生活中，有的人會(huì)考驗(yàn)?zāi)悖械氖虑闀?huì)使你動(dòng)搖。但是，當(dāng)這些出現(xiàn)的時(shí)候，請(qǐng)看看自己的內(nèi)心深處，尋找你的品質(zhì)，因?yàn)槟愕钠焚|(zhì)能幫助你應(yīng)對(duì)一切。

Your character is your gold.
