　　be hard on sb.

　　1. 解詞釋義

　　Hard有“嚴(yán)厲的，嚴(yán)格的”之意，be hard on someone是指“嚴(yán)厲苛刻地對(duì)待他人”。要某人不要對(duì)自己太苛刻嚴(yán)厲就可以說(shuō)“Don’t be hard on yourself.”以此來(lái)安慰對(duì)方。你想幫某人說(shuō)情時(shí)，也可以將這句話套用成“Don’t be so hard on sb.”，意思是“別對(duì)他人太苛刻”。

　　2. 拓展例句

　　e.g. Don't be too hard on him; he didn't mean to do it.

　　不要對(duì)他太嚴(yán)厲,他并不是故意這么做的。

　　e.g. Wang Bin's parents are hard on him, demanding that he should only do the readinginstead of surfing the Internet even in summer holidays.

　　王斌的父母對(duì)他非常嚴(yán)厲，不允許他在暑假上網(wǎng)，要求他看書(shū)。

　　Ps：quarrel with的意思是“和......吵架，爭(zhēng)辯”。例如：

　　I would rather be laughed at than quarrel with him. 我寧愿被嘲笑，也不愿和他吵架。

　　It's very sad when husbands and wives quarrel with each other. 夫妻間起口角是很不幸的事。

　　I have no quarrel with what you say. 我對(duì)你的話沒(méi)有反對(duì)意見(jiàn)。

　　Ps：on a +adj. +occasion的意思是在......場(chǎng)合。例如：

　　I remember you mentioned the same thing on a previous occasion. 我記得你在以前某個(gè)時(shí)候提及過(guò)同一件事情。
