　　1. 解詞釋義

　　Carry a torch的字面意思是“高舉火炬”，比喻為“單戀，喜歡”或“執(zhí)著某一事業(yè)或理想”的意思。如果表示單戀，喜歡某人或某物，執(zhí)著于某一具體的事業(yè)或理想，在短語(yǔ)后面用解詞for，后面再接名詞或動(dòng)名詞短語(yǔ)，即：carry a torch for something or doing something。

　　e.g. John has carried a torch for Jane for years but she doesn't seem to notice.
