不能提耳朵
Little Johnnys's next doors had a baby.Unfortunately, the baby was born without ears.
小約翰尼的鄰居生了小孩。不幸的是寶寶生來沒有耳朵。
When they arrived home from the hospital, theparents invited Little Johnny's family to come overand see their new baby. Little Johnny's dad had atalk with little Johnny before going to the neighbors.
從醫(yī)院回到家后，寶寶的父母邀請小約翰尼一家過來看新生兒。在過去之前，爸爸和小約翰尼談了一次話。
He said, "Now, son... that poor baby was born with no ears. I want you to be on your bestbehavior and not say one word about his ears or I am really going to spank you when we getback home."
爸爸說：“呃，孩子……那個可憐的嬰兒生來沒有耳朵。我希望你能好好表現(xiàn)，不要提他的耳朵。否則我們回來后，我真的會揍你一頓的。”
"I promise not to mention his ears at all," said Little Johnny.
小約翰尼答道：“我保證絕不提他的耳朵。”
At the neighbor's home, Little Johnny leaned over in the crib and touched the baby's hand. Helooked at its mother and said, "Oh, what a beautiful little baby." The mother said, "Thank youvery much, Little Johnny."
在鄰居家里，小約翰尼俯身在童床上，摸了摸寶寶的小手。然后轉(zhuǎn)向?qū)殞毜膵寢屨f：“多漂亮的小寶寶啊!”“太謝謝你這樣說了，小約翰尼。”
He then said, "This baby has perfect little hands and perfect little feet. Why... just look at hispretty little eyes... Did his doctor say that he can see good?"
他又接著說道：“小寶寶長著漂亮的小手和小腳。呃……瞧瞧這對漂亮的眼睛……醫(yī)生說他的眼睛沒問題吧?”
The Mother said, "Why, yes Johnny... his doctor said he has 20/20 vision."
寶寶媽媽答道：“當(dāng)然，約翰尼，醫(yī)生說他的視力足有2.0。”
Little Johnny said, "Well, it's a good thing, 'cause he sure couldn't wear glasses!!!"
小約翰尼說：“哦，這就好啦，因為他肯定戴不了眼鏡!!!”
