[00:23.60]When the farmer asked for his qualifications, “What can you do, boy?” [00:29.26]The young man said, “I can sleep when the wind blows.” [00:33.95]This answer quite puzzled the farmer and his wife. [00:38.30]But he looked honest and reliable, so the couple liking the young man decided to hire him. [00:46.47]Two months passed and the young man had worked well on the farm, nothing unusual. [00:52.89]One night, the farmer and his wife were awakened by a violent storm. [00:58.66]They quickly began to check things out to see if all was secure. [01:03.13]They found that the shutters of the farmhouse had been securely fastened. [01:07.81]A good supply of logs had been set next to the fireplace. [01:11.95]The young man slept soundly. [01:15.32]The farmer and his wife then inspected their property. [01:19.57]They found that the farm tools had been placed in the storage shed, safe from the elements. [01:24.80]The tractor had been moved into the garage. The barn was properly locked. [01:30.04]Even the animals were calm. All was well. [01:33.54]The farmer then understood the meaning of the young man’s words, “I can sleep when the wind blows.” [01:40.10]Because the farmhand did his work loyally and faithfully when the skies were clear, [01:45.90]he was prepared for the storm when it broke. [01:49.07]So when the wind blew, he was not afraid. [01:52.24]He could sleep in peace.
