The State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the timing of the announcement wastroubling.It came as US was struggling to get Israel and Palestinians to agree to extend so farfruitless peace talks.Mrs.Psaki said the Palestinian deal could seriously complicate those efforts,declaring the Israel could not be expected to negotiate with a government that didn't with itsright to exist which is the Hamas position.She said the administration would watch closelywhat steps are actually taken in the coming hours and days.

Ukrainian government officials said the operation to remove pro-Russian groups from easternUkraine is well under way after Easter truce.The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warnedthat Russia would retaliate if what he called its interests were threatened.Mr.Lavrov alsosuggested that the United States had a hand in the current standoff in Ukraine.

The World Health organization has expressed concern at the rising number of cases of thepotentially deadly virus known as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome or MERS. More than 93people have died from the virus globally since it was first detected in Saudi Arabia two yearsago. The BBC's global health reporter Tulip Mazumdar has the details.

It saysmany of the new infections have been in medical staff treating sick patients, scientists still don'tknow the source of the virus although they expected came from camels or how it spreads. TheWorld Health Organization is now offering to send international experts into both countries toinvestigate what's happening, they want to establish whether the virus could be mutating tobecome more contagious.

Ukraine's acting President Olexander Turchynov hascalled on Ukraine security agencies to relaunch whathe called anti-terrorist measures in eastern Ukraine.Mr. Turchvnov said the mutilated bodies of two menhave been found outside the town of Sloviansk, which is under the control of pro-Russianforces. Steve Rosenberg reports.

In a statement on the website of the Ukraine's parliament, Mr.Turchynov said the terrorists hadtaken Donetsk region hostage and begun to torture and to kill Ukrainian patriots. Crime, he saidWhich have been carried out for the full support of Russia. Mr.Turchynov announced that thetwo bodies have been discovered near the town of Sloviansk. He claimed they have beenbrutally tortured. One of the victims is said to be a local politician from the town of Horlivka.

The American Vice President Joe Biden who's in Kiev has said that Russian must stop talkingand start acting to defuse the Ukraine crisis. The US Vice President's visit is designed to showWashington strong backing for Ukraine's interim government.

Members of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee are also visiting the region. One memberof the delegation Congressman, Eliot Engel, said it was important the ties between Ukraine andWestern nations remains strong.

We believe that the United States and Ukraine have a future together and the Untied Stateswants to encourage Ukraine to take the path of the democracy, we are very harden by whatwe saw the people getting up and X the repression and we believe the Ukraine's future in theWest and we want to keep Ukraine looking westward rather than eastward.

The founder of Russia's largest social network site VKontakte has fled the country after beingforced out of his job by the security services. Pavel Durov, who said is regarded as the Russianversion of Facebook, said that allies of the President Putin have taken over the network. TomEsslemont reports from Moscow.

Ominously, Mr. Durov says he was asked to hand over the identities of the four contacted userswho had played the role in the Maidan protests in Ukraine earlier this year. It's something herefused to do, saying he would never betray his clients. Mr. Durov who'd already tended andthen apparently rescinded his resignation, says he'd read about his final dismissal from thecompany in the media. He says now he has now plans to return. And so, he joins a growingnumber of journalists, opposition activists and other critics of the Kremlin, opting to leaveRussia in a phase of what he is saying as the tighter controls on freedom of expression in thecountry.

The United States says it's deploying 600 troops to Poland and three Baltic countries whichborder Russia to fulfill what Washington calls its commitments to its security obligations inEurope. A Pentagon spokesman said the troops will start arriving on Wednesday and will takepart in what it called bilateral exercises.

All climbing on Mount Everest is said to come to a halt four days after an avalanche killed 16Sherpa mountain guides. Sherpas at Everest base camp are said to be discussing the latestgovernment offer a compensation for the families of their colleague. The Nepalese authoritiesincreased the proposed sum after Sherpas have rejected an initial offer of $400 to each family.

The Untied States and countries bordering the Pacific have reached agreement on a code ofconduct at sea that's designed to reduce the chance of accidental clashes. The tensions highbetween China and neighboring countries over disputed islands, the agreement is designed toincrease communication between ships in crowded shipping lanes.

France has condemned an Islamic group in Mali which has announced the death of a Frenchhostage kidnapped in November,2012. The group, an offshoot of al-Qaeda, told the Francenews agency that Gilberto Rodrigues Leal was dead because France was their enemy.

The Vatican has dismissed allegations that John Paul II turned a blind eye towards one ofChurch' most damaging, sexual abuse scandals. David Willey is in Rome.

The Priests in charge of the canonisation process of the late Pope shrugged off accusations thatthe new saint failed to grasp the seriousness of the sexual abuse crisis that became publicknowledge in the last years of his pontificate. Pope John Paul will be declared the saint onSunday at Vatican ceremony expected to attract more than a million people. He's being fast-tracked to sainthood, only nine years after his death, and all-time record. Since John Paul'sdeath in 2005, embarrassing details have leaked out about the extent of one particular, clericalsexual abuse crisis, which caused serious harm to the Church's image.
