40. Development and the Environment 發(fā)展與環(huán)境

With the development of industry, people are faced with the problem of a worsening environment. Fish are disappearing in many rivers and lots of green land is changing into desert.

隨著工業(yè)的發(fā)展，人們面臨著環(huán)境惡化的問題。許多河流中不再有魚的蹤跡，眾多綠地變成了沙漠。

What are the causes of this? Firstly, too much development of natural resources has greatly damaged the balance of nature. Many people only focus on the economic profits, without considering any means of environmental protection. Secondly, the government hasn't taken any effective measures for the further development of the economy. Some departments only pay attention to their own benefit .

這究竟是什么原因造成的?首先，對于自然資源的過度開發(fā)極大地毀壞了自然界的平衡。許多人只顧經(jīng)濟利益，而絲毫不考慮環(huán)境保護。其次，政府對于經(jīng)濟的進一步發(fā)展缺乏有力的措施，一些部門只關注自身的利益。

I think economic development and environmental protection are equally important. While industry keeps developing, more money should be spent on improving the environment.

我認為經(jīng)濟發(fā)展和環(huán)境保護同等重要。在工業(yè)保持發(fā)展的同時，應該注入更多的資金來改善環(huán)境。
