guest用法歸納

1. 表示“客人”（與host相對），主要指社交上的客人或被邀請的客人。如：

Martin introduced his guests to Jane. 介紹他的客人給簡。

When guests leave the host usually sees them out. 客人走時，主人通常送出門。

有時也可指住旅店的客人。如：

The hotel takes very good care of its guests. 這家旅館對客人照顧很周到。

但是，guest通常不指商店的客人（customer）、來訪的客人（caller, visitor）、交通工具上的客人（passenger），所以以下各句均不宜用guest。如：

The store has more customers than it can take care of. 這個商店的顧客多得應(yīng)接不暇。

He is a frequent visitor to the gallery. 他經(jīng)常參觀這家美術(shù)館。

Neither the driver nor the passengers were hurt. 司機(jī)和乘客都沒有受傷。

2. 用于名詞前作定語，表示“特邀的”“客座的”等，如a guest professor（客座教授），a guest editor（特約編輯），a guest speaker（特邀演講者），等等。

3. 口語中說 be my guest, 用于回答請求，意為“請便”。如：

A：May I see the newspaper? 我可以看這份報紙嗎?

B：Be my guest. 請便。
