[00:01.87]Which cultures, then , are "open"

[00:04.36]and which are "closed"?

[00:06.42]Mm, people from Latin cultures

[00:08.83]usually show their felings more

[00:10.80]for example, the Italians.

[00:12.98]When asked if they would show

[00:14.25]that they were angry at work,

[00:16.46]71% of Italians indicated

[00:18.60]that they would show this openly.

[00:21.06]And what about "closed" cultures?

[00:23.18]Eastern cultures and northern European cultures

[00:26.34]do not show their feelings as much.

[00:29.24]For example, only 17% of the Japanese

[00:32.23]would show anger openly at work.

[00:35.15]And only 29% of the British would show

[00:37.81]they were angry.

[00:38.97]I see.

[00:39.41]Curiously enough, the Americans

[00:41.10]are more like the Italians--

[00:42.97]over 60% would express anger openly

[00:45.83]in a work situation.

[00:47.87]Culturally, Americans are in between "open"

[00:51.13]and "close" cultures-

[00:52.79]in some ways they are more "open"

[00:54.54]and in other ways they are more "closed".

[00:55.92]
