Most stores in America have return and exchange policies. If, for instance, you buy a shirt and find out when you try it on that it's too small, you can take it back to the store and exchange it for a larger size. At many stores it is also possible to return items for a refund, though there is usually a time limit. Also, not all items can be returned. Books, swimsuits and CDs (if they've been opened), for example, cannot be returned. When you make a purchase, it's always a good idea to find out the store's return and exchange policy.
