使用相互代詞的四個疑問

　　若語義需要，相互代詞可用于所有格結(jié)構(gòu)。如：

　　They know each other’s [one another’s] weak points. 他們都彼此了解對方的缺點(diǎn)。

　　順便說一句，相互代詞所有格后所修飾的名詞有時用單數(shù)，有時用復(fù)數(shù)，注意以下幾點(diǎn)：

　　1. 若接的是不可數(shù)名詞，自然要用單數(shù)。如：

　　They have great concern for each other’s work. 他們很關(guān)心彼此的工作。

　　Those two are always copying each other’s [one another’s] homework. 那兩個人總是互相抄襲作業(yè)。

　　2. 若接的是可數(shù)名詞，則通常是用復(fù)數(shù)。如：

　　They held each other’s hands. 他們牽著彼此的手。

　　It was so dark that they couldn’t see each other’s faces. 天是那樣黑，他們看不見彼此的臉。

　　但有時也可以用單數(shù)。如：

　　They broke off diplomatic relations and closed the embassies in each other’s country. 兩國中斷外交關(guān)系，并關(guān)閉了在對方國家的大使館。

　　二、相互代詞可以用作主語嗎

　　相互代詞在句子中通常只用作賓語，不能用作主語。正因為相互代詞不能用作主語，所以由相互代詞作賓語的句子也不能轉(zhuǎn)換成被動語態(tài)。

　　另外，不僅each other 和one another不能用作主語，而且受each other’s, one another’s修飾的名詞也不能用作主語。如：

　　他們寄給對方的信都及時送到了。

　　誤：Each other’s letters arrived in time.

　　正：Their letters to each other arrived in time.

　　三、相互代詞可以用作狀語嗎

　　前面說過，相互代詞通常只用作賓語，不用作其他成分(當(dāng)然也就不能用作狀語)。如：

　　我們的意見并不總是一致的。

　　誤：We don’t always agree one another.

　　正：We don’t always agree with one another.

　　四、相互代詞可分開使用嗎

　　有時each other和one another可分開使用，但意義不同。如：

　　Each wished the other to answer first. 每個人都希望對方先回答。

　　We each know how the other is getting along. 我們每人都知道對方的情況。

　　Planes took off one after another. 飛機(jī)陸續(xù)起飛。

　　The passengers embarked one after another. 乘客一個接一個地上了船。
