神奇的芥籽

A woman's only son died. In her grief, she went to the holy man and asked,

一個(gè)女人的獨(dú)生子死了。她非常傷心地找到神父問(wèn):

What prayers, what magical incantations do you have to bring my son back to life?

有什么樣的禱告或者魔咒可以讓我的兒子死而復(fù)生呢?

Instead of sending her away or reasoning with her, he said to her, Fetch me a mustard seed from a home that has never known sorrow.

神父沒(méi)有把她趕走也沒(méi)有和她講道理，而是說(shuō):你去一個(gè)從來(lái)沒(méi)有過(guò)痛苦的家庭給我找一枚神奇的芥籽來(lái)，

We will use it to drive the sorrow out of your life.

我要用它來(lái)趕走你的悲傷。

The woman went off at once in search of that magical mustard seed.

女人立刻踏上尋找神奇芥籽的道路。

She came first to a splendid mansion, knocked at the door, and said, I am looking for a home that has never known sorrow.

她先來(lái)到一座壯麗的公館前，敲門(mén)問(wèn)道:我在尋找一個(gè)從來(lái)沒(méi)有痛苦的家庭，

Is this such a place?

這是我要找的地方嗎?

It is very important to me.

這對(duì)我非常地重要。

They told her, You've certainly come to the wrong place,and began to describe all thetragic things that recently had befallen them.

公館里的人告訴她:毫無(wú)疑問(wèn)，你找錯(cuò)地方了。然后他們開(kāi)始講述起最近發(fā)生在他們身上的悲劇。

The woman said to herself, Who is better able to help these poor,unfortunate people than I, who have had misfortune of my own?

女人自己想:誰(shuí)還能比我這個(gè)經(jīng)歷過(guò)這樣悲痛的人更好地幫助這些可憐悲慘的人呢?

She stayed to comfort them, and then went on in search of a home that had never known sorrow.

But wherever she turned, in hotels and in other places, she found one tale after another of sadness and misfortune.

The woman became so involved in helping others cope with their sorrows that she eventually let go of her own.

女人盡心地幫助別人解決他們的傷心事，最終忘記了自己的悲痛。

She would later come to understand that it was the quest to find the magical mustard seed that drove away her suffering.

她漸漸明白了，真是她尋找神奇芥籽的過(guò)程，讓她擺脫了自己的悲痛。
