People learning martial arts usually begin with the white belt, which is set to signify birth.

開始學習跆拳道通常都帶白色的腰帶，這代表的初生的意思。

What makes Breaking Barriers Martial Arts different isn`t just the skills it helps its students develop but the students it helps develop those skills.

在所有的武術(shù)館，你都會看到這樣的宣傳廣告，建立自信、提高注意力和協(xié)調(diào)能力、塑形、學習自我防衛(wèi)技術(shù)。使得破冰武術(shù)俱樂部與眾不同的是，他可以幫助學生們習得這些技能，既以技能為中心，更以學生為中心。

Disabilities, it doesn`t mean they can`t do what we can do. I`m Katarina Eckstein-Schoemann and I`m the head instructor at Breaking Barriers Martial Arts.

Breaking Barriers teaches children with all types of abilities. So we have down-syndrome, muscular dystrophy, autism, ADHD.

這里教授學生多種能力。這些的學生患有唐氏綜合癥,肌肉萎縮癥、自閉癥、多動癥等各種疾病。

It`s just really fun to see them coming out of their shells and really being comfortable in who they are, and knowing that being different is OK.

看見他們走出傷心憂郁，適應(yīng)自己，知道即使與眾不同也無可厚非。我真的非常的高興

I have two younger brothers, David and Kenny, and they were both diagnosed with autism at a young age. It was really hard to find something for my brothers to be involved in.

我有兩個弟弟，他們是大衛(wèi)和肯尼。在非常小的時候，他們就被確診為自閉癥。很難找到能讓適合他們的活動。

So, it was really need when we joined taekwondo and we could do it as a family. I felt like the environment was just so much my understanding.

加入跆拳道，這樣我們可以像個家庭，變得很有必要。我覺得跆拳道的氛圍正是我所能理解的。

Most importantly, I think the heart of taekwondo is basically how to become like a better person.

最重要的是,我認為跆拳道的核心就是如何成為一個更好的人。

I started this program, I had no idea it was going to be anything more than just a Saturday class that was going to be fun for kids to just come and play and learn martial arts. But it`s made an impact on these kids.

于是，我就開辦了這個項目。我并不知道，這會變得愈發(fā)有意義，不僅僅局限于孩子們來玩耍學習武術(shù)的周末課程。但是這對這些孩子們產(chǎn)生了重大的影響。

Feels good to know that we`re helping other families that are like us.

非常高興，我們也在幫助其他像我們這樣的家庭。

He has just blossomed through this program. As a parent, it`s the most incredible feeling.

通過武術(shù)的學習，他變得開朗了。作為一個父母，這是最令人難以置信的。
