2018年在中國的農歷年的中狗年。狗作為人類忠誠的朋友，大量的出現(xiàn)在我們的語言中，這一點不僅僅體現(xiàn)在中文中，如“單身狗”“舔狗”“小狼狗”，還有成語“豬狗不如”等等。在英語中， “dog”的出現(xiàn)頻率也很高，今天分享幾個在英語中和狗相關的俚語，不過這些俚語中 “dog”的境遇就比較悲催了。

New Words:

trick n.花招；把戲；
Manger n. 馬槽；牛槽

1. go to the dogs：墮落、垮臺、完蛋、毀滅
something is becoming worse than it normally was

Many things in our home have gone to the dogs during the last 3 months.
過去三個月我們家很多事都變得很糟。

2. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks:老狗學不了新把戲;
you cannot make others change their habits

I tried to make my grandmother learn how to use a smartphone but it was just like you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
我試著教我奶奶用智能手機，不過老年人真的很難適應新事物（意譯）。

3. dog in the manger:占著茅坑不拉屎
a person who selfishly keeps something that he or she does not really need or want so that others may not use or enjoy it

Stop being such a dog in the manger and let your sister ride your bike if you’re not using it.
別再占著茅坑不拉屎了，如果你不騎的話，就讓你妹妹騎你的自行車吧。
