189　country和countryside

① country表示“鄉(xiāng)間”時，側(cè)重于區(qū)別城市與城鎮(zhèn)的鄉(xiāng)間、鄉(xiāng)下，即沒有建筑物覆蓋的土地，是不可數(shù)名詞，前面要用定冠詞the，如：in the country（在鄉(xiāng)下）；country表示“國家”時是可數(shù)名詞，如：a country（一個國家），many countries（許多國家）。

我不喜歡都市生活；我喜歡住在鄉(xiāng)下。

I don't enjoy city life；I love to live in a country.

Switzerland is a beautiful country. 瑞士是個美麗的國家。

② countryside用于泛指一切鄉(xiāng)村地域或居民。

The English countryside looks its best in May and June. 英國鄉(xiāng)村在五、六月間景色最美。

The whole countryside were in a state of great excitement. 全體鄉(xiāng)民都非常興奮。
