390　intellect，intelligence，intellectual和wit

① intellect是“才智，智能”，比intelligence（ability to learn and understand 聰穎，靈性）高，人類以外的動物可能是 intelligent，只有人類才具有 intellect。intellectual是“受過教育的”意思（highly educated）。intellect和intellectual都可作名詞表示人，intellect是指“才智很高的人”，intellectual是“知識分子”。

He was born into a family noted for its intellect. 他出身于一個書香門第。

A teacher is an intellectual worker. 教師是腦力勞動者。

A dog is more intelligent than a cat. 狗比貓更有靈性。

② wit指“機智”，作“理解力”解時常用復(fù)數(shù)形式。
