President Trump has been defending his decision to pull US troops out of northern Syria. He again warned Turkey not to take advantage of the withdrawal. Turkey is planning a long threatened military operation against Syrian Kurdish forces across the border. Speaking in the past hour at the White House, Mr. Trump warned he would decimate the Turkish economy if Ankara went off limits. He said the job of defeating the Islamic State group was done and he didn’t want to leave US troops there for the next 40 years.
