1　clothes 是“衣服，衣裳”的總稱，包括上衣、下衣、外衣、內(nèi)衣。

She has spent a lot of money on clothes . 她花了許多錢買衣服。

It's cold outside; you'd better put on more clothes . 外面很冷，你最好加穿些衣服。

提示

clothes是復(fù)數(shù)名詞，謂語動詞用復(fù)數(shù)形式，不能和表示具體數(shù)字的數(shù)詞連用，“一套衣服”不可說a clothes，要說a suit of clothes。

2　clothing 也是衣服的總稱，范圍比clothes 廣，除衣服外，還包括手套、鞋帽等。clothing 是集體名詞，只能用單數(shù)形式。

They are all in summer clothing . 他們都穿著夏裝。

In winter children need warm clothing . 冬天，孩子們需要穿暖和的衣服。

3　dress 指外衣，多指兒童、婦女的日常服裝、連衣裙等，為可數(shù)名詞。

That's a nice dress . 那是一件漂亮的女裝／童裝。

She bought several new dresses this summer. 她今年夏天買了幾件新衣服。

4　coat 指大衣或上衣。

She bought a coat for her daughter. 她為女兒買了一件大衣。

Put on your coat , please. 請把上衣穿上。

5　suit 指一套衣服，多指男西裝。

He wore a new suit for the party. 他穿著一套新衣服參加晚會。

6　cloth 指“布，布料”，為不可數(shù)名詞。

She bought a piece of cloth . 她買了一塊布。

How much cloth do you need? 你需要多少布料？

當cloth指具體用途的布時，是可數(shù)名詞。

She covered the table with a white cloth . 她用一塊白桌布把桌子蓋住。

He cleaned the window with a wet cloth . 他用一塊濕抹布擦窗。
