Baidu has launched Baidu Beat, an English blog that highlights what Chinese Internet users are up to. Kaiser Kuo, who oversees the new blog, explains:
Today, Baidu is pleased to launch its English-language blog, the Baidu Beat. Read us every day to find out a little about what Chinese Internet users are searching for. As China’s largest search provider as well as the operator of some of its biggest online forum, Baidu Tieba (or “PostBar”) and its biggest community Q&A site Baidu Zhidao (or “Baidu Knows”), we offer English-speakers a window onto the Chinese Internet.
Baidu publishes what we call the Feng yun bang, a list updated in near real time at www.top.baidu.com that shows the top searches in different categories for the day and the week and — for some categories — the month. Each day we’ll pick a few topics and explain a little about what they’re about.
Baidu sits atop a goldmine of information, and this new blog should give us an interesting window into the Chinese Internet.
