　　 常用genius，genuine，generate和general等，都是詞根gen或gener的派生詞。含有g(shù)en這個(gè)詞根的單詞數(shù)量很大，有的來(lái)自拉丁語(yǔ)，有的來(lái)自希臘語(yǔ)，不過(guò)詞根的形態(tài)與含義都是一致的。因?yàn)間en的拉丁語(yǔ)源genus和希臘語(yǔ)源genos是同源同義的，它們都來(lái)自印歐語(yǔ)詞根gen，意思相當(dāng)于英語(yǔ)的birth（出生），以及與之相關(guān)的race（種族，種類）。詞根gener是拉丁名詞genus的屬格generis的詞干部分，可當(dāng)作gen的異形根看待。
