第一章 并列平行結(jié)構(gòu)(二)

　　英語(yǔ)句子最常用的方法是通過(guò)使用一些關(guān)聯(lián)詞，如 and、or等，或標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號(hào)如：分號(hào)，逗號(hào)，破折號(hào)等，若干個(gè)在語(yǔ)義上有聯(lián)系或相互照應(yīng)的單詞、詞組或子句連在一起組成一種并列或平行結(jié)構(gòu)的長(zhǎng)句，以表達(dá)一個(gè)復(fù)雜得多層次含義。這種句式雖然難度不一定很高，但在復(fù)雜長(zhǎng)句中還是占了相當(dāng)大的比例的.

　　從今天開(kāi)始我們就由淺入深，來(lái)對(duì)這一類(lèi)型的句子進(jìn)行練習(xí)和攻克。希望大家通過(guò)練習(xí)能掌握分析這類(lèi)句式的一般規(guī)律和方法。

　　Classroom ：

　　1. More than three million people live in inner London,and nearly five million people live in the surrounding suburban area,which is made up of formerly separate villages that have merged to form what is now called outer London.

　　要 點(diǎn)：全句為并列復(fù)合句。“and”連接并列句。第二個(gè)句子是主從復(fù)合句。“which”引出非限制性定語(yǔ)從句，修飾“area”。“that”引出限制性定語(yǔ)從句，修飾“villages”。“what”引出名詞從句，作“from”的賓語(yǔ)。

　　參考譯文：三百多萬(wàn)人口居住在倫敦市區(qū)，將近五百多萬(wàn)人口居住在周?chē)慕紖^(qū)——該地區(qū)由原來(lái)分散的村莊構(gòu)成，逐步形成如今被稱(chēng)為的外倫敦。

　　2. Then I remembered how often I,too,had been indifferent to the grander of each day,too preoccupied with petty and sometimes even mean concerns to respond to the splendor of it all.

　　要 點(diǎn)：此句存在著一個(gè)“too…to…”結(jié)構(gòu)，即“too preoccupied with petty and sometimes even mean concerns to respond to the splendor of it all”。注意：“I,too,had been indifferent to the grander of each day”中“too”的含義為“也”，請(qǐng)不要混淆。

　　參考譯文：然后我回想起自己過(guò)去也經(jīng)常對(duì)每天的壯觀景象不感興趣，也經(jīng)常一頭埋在細(xì)小的、有時(shí)甚至是卑鄙自私的事物中而對(duì)這整個(gè)奇觀麻木不仁。

　　要點(diǎn)分析和參考譯文：

　　1. 要 點(diǎn)：破折號(hào)后面not…or…結(jié)構(gòu)相當(dāng)于neither…nor…結(jié)構(gòu)。

　　參考要點(diǎn)：人們只能猜測(cè)，如果他確實(shí)聽(tīng)到了不少有關(guān)情況的話(huà)，這只能堅(jiān)定他的決心：不能讓自己和新娘成為展覽品而丟人現(xiàn)眼——活著的時(shí)候不能這樣，死了也不行。
