二、目的狀語從句的簡化

1.當(dāng)主句和從句的主語一致時，in order that從句可簡化為in order to do作目的狀語。

They worked hard in order that they might succeed.為了成功，他們努力工作。

They worked hard in order to succeed.

He got up early in order that he could not be late for school.他早早起床為了上學(xué)不遲到。

He got up early in order not to be late for school.

2.當(dāng)主句和從句的主語一致時，so that從句可簡化為so as to do作目的狀語。

He took the early train so that he should arrive on time.

為了準(zhǔn)時到達(dá)，他乘坐早班車。

He took the early train so as to arrive on time.

He worked hard so that he would not fail the math exam.

他努力學(xué)習(xí)，為了數(shù)學(xué)考試能及格。

He worked hard so as not to fail the math exam.
