Legendary punk rocker and poet Patti Smith is recovering and "in good health conditions" after being hospitalized in Italy for a sudden illness.

The Local Health Authority of Bologna told the Los Angeles Times that the singer was discharged from the hospital Wednesday after "a short period of observation in emergency," adding that the the medical team hopes to see Smith back on stage soon, after "an appropriate period of rest."

Smith was in the midst of an eight-date tour around Italy, having most recently played the at the Modena Cathedral on Saturday, along with stops in Schio and Siena.
